I got into VRChat because of some videos I stumbled across online. This was junior high, 3rd grade. A few friends I'd made through osu! and I decided to give it a try together. We had no idea where to go or what to do. The world is genuinely gigantic and we were completely lost.
We'd also been watching Beat Saber gameplay and got curious whether there was a Beat Saber world in VRChat. There was: Shatoo's UDON Beatsaberdeleted. We joined, and that's where we met RURUKU.
We became friends and played together for a long time after that. Around that period RURUKU was starting to get into modeling VRChat clothing and began publishing them as free practice pieces on 
ruruku14.booth.pm. I loved them immediately. Kawaii and exactly my taste. RURUKU is still making new clothing today and still active, though I honestly can't remember when we last played together.
Then life got busy. High school entrance exams in Taiwan are no joke. Competing with everyone around you for a better placement takes most of your time and energy. I drifted away from VRChat and didn't play for a long stretch.
It was 2nd grade of high school when I came back. I was watching some foreign players messing around with random Japanese people in public worlds, got entertained, and hopped back in. This time I found the Chinese-speaking community and started trying to make friends there.
That's when I met XoF_eLtTiL (Little Fox spelled backwards). He was incredibly kind and genuinely dedicated to the game. We started a Discord server called VRChat // VRGame to bring together more Chinese-speaking players: world hopping, hanging out, hosting events. We even tried to promote VRChat to grow the Taiwanese community, which was really small at the time. We also helped make VRChat localization possible for Chinese speakers.
Somewhere in there I also met 羽棉ユキノ (Taiwanese, despite the Japanese name). He introduced me to Lamy Family, a found family started by LM_Lamy. Everyone has a role, and 羽棉ユキノ acts as mother while I act as a child. We do gatherings, play games together, and just hang out. I'm still part of it even now, even after my time shifted more toward かしわmoti's crowd.
And then, again, university entrance exams. Same story. I went quiet for a while and lost touch with them.
After getting into university I ended up in 日本語話者向け集会場「FUJIYAMA」JP, where I met かしわmoti. He's funny in a way that sneaks up on you, and genuinely warm underneath it. He describes himself as 「拡声器から生まれた革命児」, which fits perfectly because he's always pulling people into a public instance, making introductions, getting everyone playing together. Same energy as what Little Fox and I tried to do, just louder.
It was getting back into the game through him that I met りくるーと. He just took all my rough edges and accepted them like they were nothing. We're still together. ❤️
Another thing about かしわmoti's crowd is that it doesn't stay inside VRChat. We spill out into Minecraft, R.E.P.O., whatever someone throws into the chat that week. Every session is some flavor of chaos. Someone always ends up screaming. It's genuinely one of the most fun groups I've been in.
